Echelon California - Chardonnay

Vines & Harvest

Echelon Chardonnay is a beautiful balance of tropical fruit aromas with juicy pear and clover honey flavors. The grapes are grown in vineyards around California’s Central Valley where rich alluvial soils nourish the vines. The 2011 growing season was marked by cooler than average temperatures which allowed for extended hang time on the vines, allowing the fruit to develop more complexity. The grapes were picked at night to maintain ideal sugar levels and freshness which translates to a brighter, crisper finish on the wine.

Winemaking

This wine was cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural fruit flavor. Each lot was stored separate, stored cold and blended just before bottling.

Tasting Notes

Delicate aromas of sweet pineapple, Bartlett pear and a hint of vanilla segue into balanced flavors of apricot and bright citrus. Buttery undertones are accentuated by judicious acidity for a supple but crisp finish.
